Elvis' financial success made the front page of the Wall Street Journal in an article titled "Heartbreak, Hound Dogs Put Sales Zip Into Presley Products." The newspaper reported that Elvis merchandise had sold $22 million worth of Presley goods in the past few months. Included in the sales figure were 72,000 pairs of black jeans, 350,000 charm bracelets and 7,200 pairs of "Elvis Presley" shoes.
